Core Communication for Non-Verbal Communicators
Jaygee Maker
Whanau Support
The program is designed to educate whanau of children aged 3 - 13 years who are non verbal and use core symbols for communication. The programme is designed to teach children in a simplistic way about core communication pictures through reading. The programme is aimed at improving communication, including two way communication, for non verbal communicators. The programme gives the whanau a tool to support the teaching of the coreboard symbols to their non verbal communicator.
This programme allows non verbal communicators to receive an equitable education and have the same opportunities to reach their full potential in education as their verbal peers.
The programme is made up of three 2 hour sessions which can run weekly or fortnightly alongside the whanau and nonverbal communicator. It supports, guides and evaluates the learning for all the whanau on the programme.
